Academics

The Transition Program curriculum is based on the Casey Life Skills curriculum. Classes cover all aspects of Independent Living, including: home management, personal financial and benefit management, community resources, mobility training, and self-advocacy. Students also have classes in career planning and exploration and resume writing while participating in the in-house STEP program and experiencing a variety of vocational training classes.

During the first year of the Transition Program students concentrate in the independent living portion of the program and during the second year, students’ focus is on the career planning and exploration aspects of the curriculum. At the end of their two-year program students will have a better idea of the post-secondary training, education and career options they wish to pursue.
