The Illinois Center for Rehabilitation and Education – Roosevelt (ICRE-R) is a residential school for students with severe physical disabilities and other health impairments, located in the Illinois Medical District of Chicago, at 1950 W. Roosevelt Rd., Chicago, IL 60608. ICRE-R is part of the Illinois Department of Human Services (DHS), Division of Rehabilitation Services (DRS).
The Transition Program Curriculum is based on the Casey Life Skills curriculum. Classes cover all aspects of Independent Living, including: home management, personal financial and benefit management, community resources, mobility training, and self-advocacy. Students also have classes in career planning/exploration and resume writing, while participating in the in-house STEP program and experiencing a variety of vocational training classes.
After School Hours:
ICRE-R’s after school hours offer many opportunities for students to make friends, socialize, and explore leisure activities.
ICRE-R offers a wide variety of evening programs in the arts, music, martial arts, scuba diving and dance. We also work with volunteer agencies that bring new and interesting activities for students to explore in their free time.
